hi, how can i install LINUX UBUNTU on my windows VISTA? I already downloaded both versions of ubuntu, 7.04 and 6…
IMPORTANT:
the important part of this is that i am wondering how to install it on my computer without losing any Vista files, or the Vista operational system
Thanks

When you install Ubuntu on your computer you should select the advanced mode. When installing I would suggest that you either have two hard drives or you partition one. When you have sorted that out, and selected advanced mode then there should be an option asking you if you want to install something like ‘GRUB’, this allows you to have many OS’s installed on your computer and you then have the option to pick which one you want on startup. Just make sure when you are installing ubuntu you don’t format the wrong hard drive or partition!
Hi
First you cant install operating system inside another operating system, they are seperate so you need to install it same way as vista was installed
First you need an empty dvd
burn linux iso image onto the dvd
boot your computer with that dvd in dvd drive
and then instalation should start
one of the problems you might face is that there might not space in your hard drive for linux
in that case you need to re-partion your hard drive (c) using partitioning tool in vista
when you successfully install linux you should have a dual boot machine which means that you can choose which OS you want to use when you turn on computer
Dont forget: Always back up all important information before
installing – anything can go wrong
