How do you download on linux lite os? After you save it and its done downloading it brings up all kinds of ?

file names, which one is the one that will initiate the program to install? I am new to this and have just about had it. Also since I have linux lite os DO I have to have fedora or ubuntu or not?

I Don’t think "linux lite" is a distribution. See the link below but a term used to describe the small lightweight versions.
I am sure you have just one version of linux but I do not know which. Is there a linux name that comes up when you boot, when you login, in the computer manual, anywhere? If you do not see a name if you open a terminal (click on the program menu and look for a program called terminal) and type the following in the terminal exactly as shown:
lsb_release -a
This should give the name of the linux version. The name will be helpful to give you more precise instructions to answer your questions.
In general to start a program you click on the program menu and the drop down list will have all the available programs. CLick on the program name and the program should run. It is not unlike windows.
The different versions of linux have different ways of downloading programs, and it would be much less confusing if we knew which version you have.
Does your system look like the one in the second link? If so it functions like windows with icons and drop down menus.
