I include two programs to be "included at start up" but now I don’t want them to run then.

Hi, do u use gnome or kde?
In kde 3 or 4, open your home folder and in view choose show hidden files, then in the .kde3 or .kde4 folder open autostart and delete the application from the list there.
In gnome go to your control center or press alt+f2 and type in
gnome-control-center
go to sessions and remove the programs from starting up
Remember one more thing in kde go to kde 3 control center or kde 4 system settings and in the session tab choose the option start with an empty session.
