how do I setup this debian linux firewall?

I want to have.
cable modem -> debian firewall -> router -> personal computers
I was looking at this website here -> http://www.aboutdebian.com/firewall.htm
but I have no experience in scripting.
can you help me understand it or give me something better to use?

for the meantime, don’t worry .
even with out install the firewall you want, you are still protected.
no virus will just get into your computer.
routers have built in firewall too.
for linux, you may install "firestarter" it is widely use firewall but still it is an option.
i use ubuntu but no firewall installed and i am connected through my wireless router edimax.
no problem here..

Sorry, but this is the most easy way. Helping you understand it, requires you to have knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP, firewalls and Linux in general, which cannot be done easily, sorry. Simply follow the web page step by step. If it is too complicated for you to follow, I would suggest Smoothwall, which is a small Linux distribution which functions purely as a firewall and which is very easy to set up, as it is configured entirely via a web interface.
