I’m trying to figure out how to install software on Ubuntu. I have Rosetta Stone and Resident Evil 5, but I can’t figure out how to install them from the DVD to the OS.
EDIT
Ok I installed it using Wine, but now when I clicked launch application, nothing happened. I tried restarting it and clicking the icon, but still nothing happens. What can I do to fix this?

Not all Windows programs can be run with WINE. It will run some Windows apps but not all. Some will just NOT work at all, Like Nintendo DS Action Replay Software. Some just suck with WINE, like iTunes. Those two programs are likely one of the few that don’t work.
Install Windows as a dual booting OS. It’s an easy thing to do, I could walk you through it if necessary. Just IM me. Once Windows is installed, install your programs. When not using them you can boot to Ubuntu.
Those software packages are built for Windows, not for Ubuntu.
You *may* (repeat: may) be able to install them by first installing a package called "Wine" under Ubuntu. Use the Ubuntu Software Center, or Synaptic Package Manager. "Wine" provides an environment that will allow many Windows programs to run under Ubuntu.
Once you have installed Wine, mount the DVD, and navigate to a program with a name something like "Setup.exe". You should be able to start Wine by double-clicking on the Setup.exe file.
You also have to properly configure wine. See the link below.
Good luck
