how do i install mandriva linux?

i have downloaded 1 cd mandriva linux from its website, when i boot my laptop with its cd, mandriva screen is shown, but loading doesnot proceed furthur after it shows "Loading HAL Daemon".. what does this mean?

"Loading HAL Daemon"- means it loading list of hardware nesseccary to install mandriva…you might also try redhat "fedora" it free…ad redhat project…
