+See the first link on the command to open an RPM file. The next link is a list of linux commands. Downloading and running a file is TOTALLY different than you would do it in Windows.
Best advice: return that eee and get one with XP on it. Or just wipe the linux and install XP from a flash drive. Loads of tutorials out there for that. Trust me, XP on it is worth the extra 20 bucks. I gave up on my eee with linux when it couldn’t even connect to my wireless network. Linux just blows on laptops in general.
You could download "puppy linux 4.2" which does have a flash player browser and burn the live CD to disc. Then boot it while you figure out how to install the RPM. Basically you can just boot from the CD and it will save setting s and stuff on a partition you name (the current linux partition?)
I ‘m a Linux debian user, and i installed the adobe flash player,
first download the appropriate package to your Linux Distro. Then, open the terminal command prompt, type (linux debian example):
dpkg -i install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
