You’ve got multiple downloading options, just go here:
http://www.mandriva.com/en/download
The download requires a bit torrent client, which is a file sharing application. You can get bittorrent at http://www.bittorrent.com/btusers/download/?
You’ll need to save it and install it.
Then you need to go to http://www.mandriva.com/en/download/free to get the torrent file, which will take care of obtaining the Mandriva distribution file. The file will be an ISO image file, which is a format that will require you to either mount the image file or burn it to a CD. You can burn it to a CD with your CD authoring program, usually either Roxio or Nero that should come with your CD burner. From ther, you’ll need to set your computer to boot from the CD drive and boot the system with the Mandriva CD in the drive. If Mandriva is the only OS you will use on the computer, you won’t have to mess with partitioning the drive.
