How do i configure the sound on an older version of Mandriva Linux?

Just installed Mandriva Linux and everything works great but i do not know how to set up the sound drivers… everything else pretty well set itself up… tried a couple different things in the configuration area but no success yet…
I dig this OS and want to keep using it for a while… anyone able to help?
I would like to do it without a full re-intstall but if thats the only way then so be it….

At the end of setup there is a screen for sound card recognition. If you missed that go back and do it again until you get it right, or do without sound.
