duel booting debian linux and win XP problems?
Me and my dad are trying to do a duel boot. He installed Debian already and now we went to install XP but the computer wont boot the cd. We have various XP disks but none of them will boot from Cd. He even tryed to configure the BIOS so that it ONLY boots from cdrom, but alas no luck.
Is there any other way we can install XP, or maybe copy XP from another hard drive onto this one?
hes a smart guy and i only know a little big… but im asking for him… so any ideas would be apriciated

Try installing XP first I bet it works
If you can’t boot from cd, its not caused by Debian.
You need to make sure that:
- WinXP installation CD is OK
- CD-ROM drive can read the CD normally
- Set BIOS to boot from CD (yes, you mentioned that already)
- Have you used the CD before? If no, then you might not aware that you must press anykey when booting with WinXP installation disc.
I had this same problem except I was using a different version of linux and using a boot loader to launch the linux program from the xp.
I would install xp first then install Debian…here is a forum topic about it that will help you out. good luck!
