I’m not aware of any Microsoft software that works on Linux. And I know of tons of companies that use Linux for their web servers. Linux is an open-source and free operating system (except Red Hat and Mandriva), so as long as you get the version you want you can legally use it for anything you need.

Visual Fox Pro does not run natively on Linux, but can be used by installing a compatibility layer known as Wine. Linux can be and is used for a variety of business purposes. It is common in web servers and embedded devices.

Linux can legally be used for business purposes. Some Microsoft products on linux might be another story if they require a genuine version of windows (of which Wine is not)
