Does linux open source receiver need LNB?

If I buy a linux open source receiver, do I still need LNB or it works as long as I connect it to internet?

It depends what you want to do with it. If you want to use it to watch TV over the Internet, you don’t (but probably can get better boxes dedicated to receiving Internet TV.
If you want to watch satellitte TV, you do not need an Internet connection, but need a dish and LNBF.
You do not need an Internet connection to legally watch satellite TV. The only time you would requre onr is to use an illegal card sharing service to pirate a pay TV service.
If your talking about a Satellite reciever, then of course you need an LNB.
