Does anyone have a simple way to recognize and install wireless on a Linux (Mandriva) system?

I have a Intel 2200 b/g wireless card internal to my Dell 6000 laptop. I have tried to install various drivers with no luck yet.
Funny you should mention, Ubuntu, I installed it first and it did the same thing, no wireless card is detected.

If you have an external wireless card plugged in when you install the system, Linux should recognize it and prompt you to enter information such as SSID … It is probably the easiest way to install wireless on Linux. Even if your system is already installed, you can still try plugging in the card and reboot. Linux should detect hardware change and install the card for you automatically.
If it’s an internal wireless card, sometimes Linux cannot recognize it, or cannot get things done right. In this case you’ll have to manually edit the wireless configuration. You can search "how to install wireless card in Linux".
I hate to say "i dont know", but I’ve been doing this for awhile and the easiest solutioin to installing a wireless card in linux is to use ubuntu or kubuntu (KDE version of ubuntu) distributions. I really like the flexiblity of Debian (desktops), and tried desperately to get my wireless to work on my laptop and failed miserably. Unless you really like the challenge of manually installing/configuring a wireless card, go with ubuntu- they will detect 99% of wireless cards
