There is no single "Linux OS". There are MANY distributions out there, each a little different from the next. You can go to http://www.linux.org to read about the different ones. Right now the most popular one (in terms of systems it’s installed on) is Ubuntu, which another responder referred to. You can request free CDs of it (if you’re willing to wait a while), or you can download it for free from their website.
