Do I need to own a Linux machine to use GoDaddy’s Linux hosting package?

I would like to purchase a hosting package from godaddy.com so I can host a wordpress blog from there, but the only options are Windows and Linux. I run a mac and don’t want to make an unnecessary purchase.
I’m a designer and not a developer, so if you can dumb it down to a 4th grade level, that would be great. thanks.

I like to use Hostgator instead Godaddy because Hostgator isn’t so overladed and it works way faster than godaddy. You can buy a domain from godaddy and host it at hostgator.
You have to choose linux option because it will provide more functionality like .htaccess files and permissions to use many ad-dons.
I made a mistake and purchased a windows hosting and choose to get my money back and host my site at Hostgator because of way better support service and website rendering time and ftp upload time.
Don’t waste your money on godaddy! ๐
No.
But please consider a high quality host such as ICDSoft.
Here is the answer: Choose Linux. You are using it already, just not on your computer:

"What you use for your local computer to access your site (or host via FTP) should not be confused with the operating system the host is running. "
One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to select the same operating system for your hosting account that you use on your own computer. This is simply not true. In other words, you can select Linux for your hosting account if you currently use Windows or Mac operating systems on your own computer.
As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website/weblog. If you are going to create your blog website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website (ex: http://www.yahoo.com). To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your blog online at your purchased domain name.
If youโre going to start your blog at your own domain with different pages, you need a web host providing wordpress.
Take a look at:

There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the blog/wordpress website hosting industry.
Good Luck!
Don’t worry about it go for a Linux one and there won’t be any problem.
Good job! It may be helpful in the process of studying linux so I’ve scraped it using scrapebook(firefox addon). Can you recommend any books about linux for me? yeah, I am a noob of linux. ๐ thanks in advance!
