Debian linux – KDE startx problem?

I have just installed Debian (An hour or so ago…) And cannot access the GUI. I have tried startx, init 2, and init 3 in root and my other account. I am a beginner at Linux, and I know that there are much easier distributions. But, can anybody help?

That’s strange. Look in /var/log/x* log files (off memory)
Likely it is a configuration error in the xorg.conf or your video card has no appropriate driver (or the driver you have installed is incorrect or has botched things up).
I have only installed linux on devices with nvidia or intel based video cards. The intel should work out of the box, whereas nvidia may require the linux driver, available from their site.
