can you run Windows games and applications on ubuntu linux?

I heard you can load a programme called virtual windows or something, does that work and where do you get it from please? any comments on experience of running windows stuff in this way please?

wine will play (some) windows games, I’d say the majority to be honest.
To download it go to a terminal and type the following:
sudo apt-get install wine
To play the games get the .exe files, right click em and select open with wine. With a paid version of mandriva theres a program which plays all Windows games but it costs $50 :O. Wine is free though. It stands for… Wine is NOT an emulator, confusing…
