LUg.
http://www.ubuntu.com/ would be a good place to start.
everything I learned about Ubuntu, I learned here:
http://ubuntuforums.org
This is another good page to get all of the "good stuff" working

All of the items in italics should be copy / pasted into your Terminal >programs > accessories > terminal
Ubuntu doesn’t REALLY have to have all of it to work well, but if you’re gonna learn how to use BASH and the Terminal, I suggest going to the local library, and start in the Adult Non–fiction books at 004.001 and look for books that deal with Bash and terminal there. Also, the Ubuntu Bible will be there, as well as other fantastic resources on computers.
I trust you know how package management works?
The best thing you can do is know what packages you have installed and what they do. You can usually get help for commands by adding "-h", "–h", "-help", etc to the end of the command. It will usually list different arguments and their uses.
Also, "sudo" is your biggest friend, you know, just in case you want to be root
This link is a good place to start for learning to use ubuntu.
If you are looking for something that is not on this page try typing what you want into the search box at the very top of the page.
Good luck
