Can Debian Linux damage my LCD panel?
I was trying to use Dual monitors on my Dell laptop with Debian Etch and my laptop LCD died. Dell repaired it and it happened again. I was using these instructions: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1773710
Is that even possible or is it a coincidence? Can a video card+software kill a LCD panel?

I’d be careful about using a Ubuntu howto for a Debian setup. They usually work, but there are enough differences between Ubuntu and Debian that some stuff may not work as expected.
To answer your question, it’s not actually the software that’s killing your monitor. It’s what you’re telling the software to do that may be giving you problems. My guess is that the Ubuntu howto article has you going into /etc/X11/xorg.conf and changing some horizontal and vertical refresh rates. Be careful when you do this; in most cases it won’t really harm anything, but sometimes the wrong values can lead to disaster.
