   But if you have to ask this question, you are much better off getting a distribution like Ubuntu. Just search for it online, it’s available for free download all over the place.

   Yes, you can use linux and windows simultaneously. You can either dual boot or you can use a virtual machine like VMWare.

   i think it better if u get a cd… yeah u can use linux and windows.. just be care during installation

   There are many flavours available.
   Fedora Core is a free version available. Just search for Fedora Core download and you’ll get iso files which can be burnt onto cds.

   similarly you can get Suse, debian, Ubuntu etc.
   kernel.org will only give you a kernel, which is not enough.

   Ubuntu even offers to send you free cds which you can redistribute.

   For more details, just search on google for these names, you’ll get enough relevant results
