do all the facilities available in windows are available in linux redhat?

I was told to go with LFS but apparently i need to work off of an existing distribution.

I’m looking for some pictures online of mandrake roots, and so far, I’ve only stumbled upon photoshopped pictures of people reinforcing the idea of mandrakes resembling the human form.

Where are the ACTUAL pictures? lol are people scared of pulling them out themselves and taking a REAL picture of it due to it’s "deathly scream"? xD

We had a tech guy come in because my dads computer sucks, and he has major bottlenecks.. but thats beside the point, the tech guy said that there was speculation that vista is going to be discontinued. any truth?

also i was wondering if linux runs DirectX 10 and other windows applications.

I am working on a number of websites and have found it EXTREMELY convenient to use Microsoft’s Web Deployment Installer to quick-start some of these sites. Most of them are Drupal and WordPress, and thus do not have any programming that is uniquely "Windows." The problem is, I have no idea how to access the databases for these sites nor even how to back them up.

I would like to know if I can go ahead and finish building these sites, with data, settings, and all intact, and then back them up and migrate them to a shared linux hosting account that will likely have cPanel.

Any help here will make my world a lot easier.
Wanted to add details that ALL of my sites are installed using MySQL – or so I am led to believe. IIS is completely new to me as I’ve previously been learning using remote hosting; using the Web Deployment Tool is a new thing out of convenience.

What about Blue Screen errors? Im having problems with XP that are frustrating me so much and I’m about ready to switch over if I won’t have any more problems.

I currently use Windows Vista Ultimate, and I’ve considered going over to either a Mac or Linux. But I know that Linux has compatibility issues with a lot of software and I’m a digital media designer (graphic,audio,animation,video) I mainly use Adobe Master collection, design premium, sony vegas, and corel draw.
Should I move to Linux?

Does anybody know of any books that have a vast bank of knowledge on the botany? In specific herbology, like deatils on ephendra it’s uses, active alkaloids in salvia divorium and it’s uses to treat dementia? Everything from treating the common flu, to natural stimulants such as ginko, to narcotic plants known to cause hallucinations such mandrake?

I am wondering that downloading LINUX on the Windows machine will cause any problem with my computer and applications that run on Windows or not.

I am running openSuse and I am trying to set up nessus. I have the server all set up but I literally cannot find the client anywhere. Where can I find it? Even the windows client would be find because I could run it in wine, but linux is preferred! (rpm or tarball). Thanks!

I was wondering, why isn’t there as many professional games for linux?

I figure that since linux is open source, overtime it would be a better platform for gaming since potential exploits, optimizations etc, could be found and the like. Not to mention its free. Why is it that Linux just doesn’t have the same capabilities gaming-wise. It seems far superior in every other respect.

The ONLY thing holding me back from keeping Linux is one thing: my iPod Touch 2G. How would I go upon putting music/videos on it? What sortware/applications should i use?* i DON’T need the iTunes Store.. All I need is the ability to put music on it, no apps or special stuff.

The anime or manga I’m looking for is a about a guy get getting into magic academy what I don’t remember what if any power he has but the one thing i remember best is he befriends a mandrake and I think he gets the power of Null. And the school has cards that show your power.(I think). But the mandrake can’t be seen may most people and helps him in battles w/in the school. Sound Familiar to anyone?

I want to play games that use java in linux mint but for some reason nothing wil install or work. In mozzila firefox when i go to play a java game it asks for me to install a plugin. I click install but it says missing plugin and just fails. I downloaded the file jre-6u17.rpm.bin so i could install java. When i try to open it it says "could no display home/ryan/jre-6u17.rpm.bin. Somebody please help me to install java. Thanks@!

I would do all that but my password in terminal wont work. I know it doesnt show what your typing but it doesnt accept my password. How do i install it then.

I’m looking for an open-source software library or plugin that provides an interface similar to Visio, Umbrello, Dia, Inkscape, Xilinx ISE, etc. which allows the creation of objects and connections by users, which can then be analyzed by the caller program. Ideally this would be a cross-platform library, but it needs to work on Linux.
