Linux help?

I’m trying to get Yahoo Messenger on this laptop that’s running Linux. I really don’t know anything about Linux and I’m planning to change back to windows, but I need to get yahoo messenger on here first for reasons that are really offtopic.

Anyway! when I go to the Yahoo Messenger site it says Redhat 6, 7, 8, or 9? I don’t know what this is, or what it means, but when I download any of them the .rpm files don’t run, how do I run these files?

i cant install any version of yahoo messenger or any other chat client and this makes me mad because chatrooms are my main interest. does anyone know of a way that i can access yahoo chat from the web like i can get into yahoo im’s with meebo or through email? this not being able to get into yahoo chat rooms really blows!

I recently installed Suse Linux 9.3 on my Compaq Laptop!

Why a developer and a user should go for Open Source Technologies. Like why people using Windows should move to Solaris. Linux etc

is mandrake a troll wq inside?

wq: who is the best high flyer in history

I am a novice Linux server admin (I can us SSH, vi, cron, and understand config files), but I am willing to learn. However, I do not have hundreds of hours to research and learn all the ins-and-outs of Linux. I need something fairly turnkey:

What is the best server software that will do all or most of the following:
– POP3 server
– SMTP server
– Webmail server (with good standard features, like WYSIWYG editor, attachments, etc.)
– Web-based end-user configuration tools
– Anti-virus
– Anti-spam (blacklists and whitelists & RBL support required, spam filtering logic a plus)
– Authentication data stored in a database for easy management.
– POP-before-SMTP authentication

Similarly, I need to pick the best Linux OS to run this puppy on. I would like an OS with a wizard install, and one with adequate security for a publicly accessible server.

Last of all, it would be great if all of the above would be freely available for commercial use.

Thanks for your help!

i am having broadband connection connected through USB port.

Diamond S9250 PCI 256MB DDR ATI Radeon Graphics Card
(9250 series)

It seems to fail to load this graphics card during boot up. Is it simply incompatible? I know for a fact that the kernel fails to boot because of this card.

what linux fits my old slow PC to play video?

PII 300 + 128M RAM + 8M AGP
It’s running Win ME and cannot fluently play most video, including online flv’s. Harddisk space is big. But CPU and RAM cannot improve.
Can any linux make it work? No other applications needed, such as email or office.
Thank you.

I was wondering what Linux OS is the best?

I would like to know which Linux is the best as in looks and how it runs and if it’s user friendly.

How do I uninstall SuSE Linux 10.1?

I have SuSE Linux 10.1 installed along with Windows. Now I want to uninstall it. So can anyone tell me how i can uninstall it? I tried using the partitioner to delete all the partitions but the linux partition just like it is explained in the manual at http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:How_to_Uninstall_Linux but its not working. I am getting an error message when I press the "Apply" button in the partitioner. So any other way to uninstall it? I cant use the Linux CD cause my CD Drive is not working. :(
Didn’t I mention that my CD-Drive is not working?

Ubuntu Linux or Susu Linux. Or any other way except Wubi 7.10.

This is to Kiko_Pad .If you have nothing better to do than to tell me to do it my self, then I feel sorry for people like that that would rather spend their time telling people what to do rather then help someone with something they didn’t know before. I know something you can do if all you want to do is tell someone to do their own work, go get yourself a girlfriend you lonely mofo, I mean kiko pad, oh yea just remembered your such a dork you spend your time telling others to do their work on yahoo, so I don’t think their is any girl in their right mind that would give you a chance. Get a Life you worthless idiot.
To Tracey L. I have read up on it there is a total of 200 questions on the exam review and these were the ones I was stumped on.
