The following strings are ciphertexts that have been encrypted using one of the classical crypto-systems that were discussed in class. Each of them decrypt to an English sentence without any whitespace or punctuation. Cryptanalyze each one and provide the decrypted plaintext as well as the secret key used to produce it. 1) Affine Cipher – In the class, we studied the shift cipher. A similar cipher is called the affine cipher, which works as follows.

hey , i brought the mandriva linux premuim pack , and everytime i install, when i finnish , and after restarting , only the cursor appears ( can move it ) and a black background.

more details : i have a nVidea 1GB vga , 2 GB Ram and 500 GB HD ,
am connecting 2 monitors to it , but only 1 of them showing the screen .

I’m running Yellow Dog Linux 3.0 on an old Powermac 8500. I would like to update the software using the "yup update" command in the terminal. It polls the RPM database, runs the dependency sanity check, the server signals ready — but then it fails with the message "Error: 550 Cannot get file size." This is making me crazy. Anyone have any ideas?
The problem is not simply downloading the file, which I can do. I’m trying to use the command line update tool so that I don’t have to handle the updates manually, which can be done but is a nuisance.

I made a dual boot Windows-Linux Suse 9.2 pc, and on lcd and a crt monitor it will never get past startup it wont display any graphics, the monitors just either go to sleep or they say signal out of range!. How to fix this so i can use linux again! Software problem? monitor problem?

I want to install the new Debian 5.0 release but I’m not sure which version is the one for my PC. I have an intel core 2 quad, so Im not sure if I should use the x386 release, which I understand is for 32 bit systems or the amd64 release, which also supports EM64T based Intel processors. Any help?

In a song from my favorite band, one of the main lines is "After the storm, when the magic is gone, drown in the tears of a mandrake" I googled and checked out wiki but I can’t find exactly what they are or what they do. The closest I could get is that a Mandrake is some creature attatched to the roots of a plant. Could anybody give me a more detailed explenation?

Any idea how to install yahoo messenger for Linux. Its in an .rpm file and I read to install alien to convert it to a .deb. I installed that with no problem, but when I did the command for sudo alien -k then the name after, I just would get file can’t be found, yet it’s there on the desktop. Any other suggestions on how to do it
