Is there a way around this or must I just accept. Example sotware such as MS encarta doesn’t seem to work. Is there a program that I can download that will allow me to still use most applications. I have ubuntu 9.10

Here’s the situation… I’ve got two seperate drives, both with a full-blown operating system installed, both fully functional when plugged into the the appropriate IDE cable as "Drive C" or "hda" respectively.
Mandriva is using LILO… in the master boot record of it’s drive.
Adding Windows to the bootup options menu and pointing it to the Windows drive installed on a separate IDE cable, as hdc… does NOT work.
How to proceed at this point without completely destroying either installation. If I have to wipe and reinstall Windows, that’s acceptable. But re-installing Mandriva at this point is NOT an option… just way to much data and add-in software at this point… it would take me DAYS to recover.
I notice in the Mandriva Linux Control Center that you can specifiy a different "Boot Device". What would happen if I changed that to "/dev/hdc", let it save it’s data, then shut down and switch the drives around?
News… one round-about approach that works, though it’s not that convenient…
Currently the Mandriva drive is on the mainboard’s primary IDE cable… the Windows drive is on the secondary cable.
If I go into the BIOS and disable the primary IDE, Windows will boot and function normally. And I get the added benefit of knowing that Windows will in no way be able to mess with the MBR (Master Boot Record) on the Linux drive. Which is the whole reason I wanted Windows on it’s own drive to begin with, instead of just a partition.
It’s not the most convienient solution… ideally I’d still like a boot-up menu for Mandriva/Windows using LILO or Grub. But until then, at least tweaking the BIOS is better than having to go into the box and switch the cables around. {grin}

If Linux is open source any one can know where the password are stored and if they are encrypted any one can decrypt it using source code. I am only familiar with paragent.com . its an open source project and works well for our company.
Thanks in advance.

My son-in-law thinks Ubuntu would be better for web pages and design, but I have to keep Windows XP 2003 for my online school. Of course, I also have customized links, favorites, etc.

What do you think? If you don’t know Mandrake, he appeared BEFORE Superman and is considered by some to be the "first" super hero. Mandrake uses illusions and hypnosis to foil bad guys, wears a top hat, cape, and has a cheesy pencil thin moustache. He appeared in Fawcett comics. Chriss Angel will also do his own tricks, illusions, etc. for the movie. Will you see it if it gets produced? Do you think it will be any good?

I have read that Communist China could have used a distribution of Linux that could have been controlled by communist governments. I don’t understand why they didn’t do this.
Wouldn’t their own Linux be less expensive and more secure?

There are movies on Superman, spiderman, batman and even Phantom. But why not Mandrake (the magician)?. I know a Mandrake movie released way back in 1966. Why hollywood is not making movies on Mandrake?. Surely it will be fun and a box office hit.

I’ve actually asked this question before. But when I tried to open the application (It was in "Tar" format, I just gave up! any app should be in "RPM" format as I am a rank rockie when it comes to Linux!!!
