i have downloaded 1 cd mandriva linux from its website, when i boot my laptop with its cd, mandriva screen is shown, but loading doesnot proceed furthur after it shows "Loading HAL Daemon".. what does this mean?

my aunt came home this evening, and there were 5 mandrake roots on her door step.
she gave them to me because i love werid plants.
but im doing some research, are the good plants to have and what do you feed them.

I wrote an application. I need to build and pack it into an rpm package to deliver for the Linux based installations.

I’m having some trouble with the Herbology test in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game for Wii. (The minigame where you have to repot the Mandrakes) I’ve moved them all to the new pots in rounds 1, 2, and 3 without trouble, but when Professor Sprout calls for the end, I find out I failed. Is there some trick to this that I’m not getting, or am I just not performing fast enough? Does it matter which pot you put the Mandrake in? If you’ve finished this, please let me know!

I like the way its setup but it seems to mess up to much and I used ubuntu and red hat and they were nice just confusing. Im running a dual core intel d 2.8 ghz with 3 gb of ram so I should be able to run it no prob. thanks

I know that there is Spector Pro installed on my laptop (currently running Vista) and want to evade it (duh!). If I use a free Linux OS (I was thinking about unubtu), will the Spector Pro be able to track that as well? Thanks in advance!

Except that Linux is free, is there another reason that some people would prefer Linux to Microsoft, especially the vista version.

ok i know i neeed to write it as an iso image on the cd but when i downloaded the file from mandriva.com and extracted it with WINRAR i got like 5 files the biggest one is like 687mb and its called distrib.sqfs, not iso
so i dont know if i should convert it or..

And so far i have been unable to play audio/video cds on it

I am looking for an inexpensive web hosting firm with wordpress click and install option. I went through some web hosting review sites like "web hosting top dot com", http://www.top-webhosting-services.com, web hosting geeks etc. but I am unable to decide so far. I am specifically looking at one click Wordpress install option. I had read somewhere about some web hosting firm providing this service but unable to recall now. I presently have a web hosting account but it does not have the "click and install" wordpress installation option. Any guidance to install wordpress manually on a linux web hosting will also be appreciated.

I’m looking for a system that offers group calendars that are flexible and can be shared for scheduling meetings, etc. It is for a new, extremely poor, nonprofit organization. They simply cannot afford M$ and Exchange. I’ve heard there are solutions in Linux, but the ones I’ve found are barely cheaper than Exchange. So I’m looking for something that is freeware or open source to use instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With its increasing popularity with Ubuntu and the like, will Linux based systems ever make a significant dent in the Microsoft monopoly.

I for one, the more I use Ubuntu, the less I want to Boot into Windows.
