How can I remove the linux os from my laptop’s hard drive?

i hav linux and in my opinion it runs smoother than windows7
plus with linux u cant get viruses easily
i just dont get why eveyone has windows

I installed proftpd on Debian 5.0 and when I go on filezilla on other computer it connects but I don’t know the username and password. How can I change or see my ftp pass?
BTW I only got access to Debian with SSH!!!

on the panel i clicked on something and now when i minimize a window, i cant see it on the panel, how can i fix it? on mandriva linux

I am thinking of dual-booting windows 7 32-bit and a linux distribution on my laptop.I need a distribution which will be as small as possible(I don’t care what applications it will have) and fast.Also,bear in mind that I am not an experienced linux user.

I want it to replace the OS my hard drive is using but I dont know how. If its possible, can someone describe the steps to do so because these Linux OS’s seem like they are only used before the computer boots with its OS.

Not run, Install in windows and be able to boot into the full os from a cold start..

I will using a server verison of linux.
I want my computer to do certain events at certain times.

For example at noon I want it to use clamav to scan the shared foldor
at 11:55 I want it to do a restart
When it boots up there are certain applications I want it to run.
At 6:00 am I want it to launch a magic packet that will boot up my main computer.

I know the commands on if I am physical at the computer, but I want it to do this while I am away and automatically.

I know if your computer savvy they are all easy, but I’m looking to pop in a cd and go.

There is a lot of stuff in there along with all the temp stuff from mozilla. When I used windows I used IE Privacy keeper for disk cleanup. Is there something similar for Linux? Can anyone tell me if I can swap out Suse Linux 10.2 for another Linux OS? I’m not too happy with the version I have & I want to replace it. I upgraded from Suse Linux 10.1 to 10.2 but it just used up more of my memory which is running critically low. I don’t know how to use the other partition either which has 28 GB’s of memory. PLEASE ANYONE, HELP!

Contact hardware manufactures and software developers to ask them to make a Linux version or to have it open source (hardware manufacturers only)

Make it that the main Linux OS, have a universal installing program. Right now its .rpm for fedora and .deb for ubuntu and Debian.

It’s me again. I inserted the XP installer cd then restarted the system. On the start-up the screen says, "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD…", but that doesn’t work. i repeated it several times but ubuntu doesn’t seem to respond whenever i am pressing a key to boot from cd. ubuntu is just starting the system without booting.
any help?

ok i been with window for a while know little about other os out there. linux has been recomended by so many as better os, but from what i know about linux is that i would have to download emulator for my computer game and applications. anybody got a tutorial on how to go about installing linux and making it work with my programs?
